It’s time to update your passwords.
Last year I started the process of updating all my passwords. I’ve been flying by the seat of my pants for years, using the same passwords for multiple sites and/or a combination of the same words
In my Corporate life, as the key financial person of the organisation, I have been the administrator of many systems including cash management/credit cards and a zillion bank accounts. It’s a whole task keeping on top of the access and permissions etc, and it’s a guarantee my first call on return from holiday is to IT for a reset.
Part of the security in these systems is the regular changing of passwords, (I know a pain in the backside at times), especially those companies that run a tight ship where you can’t reuse or reimagine the same passwords.
Even though I knew better, in my personal life, I was winging it. As I was preparing for the release of Living Loud on a Budget, it became apparent I needed to do better. Added to my already long list of accounts I was managing, I now needed to add publishing, marketing and analytics, more social media, and email accounts).
There are so many horror stories of persons being hacked, bank accounts drained, social media accounts taken over and it’s not getting any better. With scammers getting more creative, cybersecurity should be a priority for everyone. If you haven’t had the opportunity to be trained in phishing and other forms of cyberscams and how to keep your digital life as safe as you can, I want to encourage you to do some reading.
If you’ve winging it like me, add change passwords to your to-do-list.
