Living Loud on a Budget: January 2024 Newsletter
Happy New Year 2024!
Is it still okay to say Happy New Year? Let me start by wishing you and yours a healthy, happy and prosperous 2024.
Month one of 2024 is almost over and for me, it felt like it flew by. For many of us, 2023 was a basket of challenges and while some of us were eager to start a new page and get cracking, for many, a new year means nothing more than same old, same old.
Outlook for 2024
The world economic trials of 2023 will not suddenly disappear because we have transitioned to a new year. Based on the economist forecast for 2024, the cost of goods and commodities are going to continue to increase amidst the current world challenges, namely wars and shipping disruptions.
At the Caribbean level, The World Bank is predicting the economy to grow by 4.1% due to expansion within the tourism sector, but states, the region will continue to struggle long-term due to several factors, which includes, an aging population, and climate change which brings risk to the agriculture sector.
What does this all mean for individuals?
If there was ever a time to be proactive with your life the time is now. Single handedly, you cannot change the world economy projections, however you have the power to change your own trajectory.
What are some of the things you can do for yourself in 2024:
1. Start to/get better at managing your finances
2. Create a plan for your career development
3. Learn a skill
4. Grow a kitchen garden
5. Declutter and get rid of items you do not need/use
